How to be Free from the Fear of Death 2021 by Ray Comfort Chap. 1 Why death? Rom. 5:12 “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned.” Thus, Adam is to be blamed for ushering in death. 5:18-20 “So then, as through one trespass there is condemnation for everyone, so also through one righteous act there is life-giving justification for everyone. For just as through one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous. The law came along to multiply the trespass. But where sin multiplied, grace multiplied even more.” Isa. 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.” Chap. 2 Is Genesis Myth? Many scientists say it is and say evolution is a fact. If natural evoluton is so powerful why dosent it give us eternal life? He applies the scientific method to both evolution and creationism. By definition the scientific method must be both observable and testable. But this fails for evolution as it was not observed millions of yrs ago, and there statements are full of sayings like probably, maybe, perhaps this happened. MY notes: Some micro-evolution with in species has been observed but not macro-evolution. Evolutionists also have difficulty explaining Male and female cooperative reproduction, as it a very complex process to occur. If reproduction that depends on developing the most efficient and foolproof methods; why would sexual reproduction, that requires 2 separate organisms working together, evolve out of asexual reproduction? Here is what distinguishes humans from other primates: Big brains, upright walking language, permanently enlarged breasts. In other primates only lactating females have enlarged breasts and then they become flat chested. Such breasts in women are attractive in all cultures. See Prov. 5;19 Darwin argued that man was superior to women., but scripture honors women. Evolution also thinks the elderly are worth little. Chap. 3 The Bible and the Scientific Method He notes that’s the bible is true and cites his book: Scientific Facts in the Bible. Man famous scientists were Christians believing in the bible, like Galileo and Francis Bacon, who developed the scientific method. Genesis gives us the origin of light, of the beautiful sky’s and stars, The amazing and complex fish, birds and animals , and of man. They were all formed fully complete, not evolved over millions of yrs. For example, man’s complex eyes and brain and all of his parts did not slowly form over millions over yrs, but complete initially, and able to reproduce, Matt. 19:4, Ps. 139:14 Chap. 4 The Main Issue. Many are not aware of the serious nature of sin; see Rom. 5:12 Above. Heb. 2:14-15 ”Now since the children have flesh and blood in common, Jesus also shared in these, so that through His death He might destroy the one holding the power of death-that is, the Devil- and free those who were held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.” God provided us a method of rescue; like a parachute in Lord Jesus, our savior. We need to trust in Him. Chap. 5 A Rich man’s big mistake, see Matt.19:16-23 and Ps. 49:6-9 “They trust in their wealth and boast of their abundant riches. Yet these cannot redeem a person or pay his ransom to God-since the price of redeeming him is too costly, one should forever stop trying-so that he may live forever and not see the Pit.” Don’t try to cover your sins or to justify yourself. We need to be humble and repent, change our minds to pursue right behavior with Jesus help. Trust in Him. Be strong and of good courage, do not be afraid , Joshua 1:9 Chap. 6 Solomon’s Conclusion. Eccl. 1:16-18 “I applied my mind to know wisdom and knowledge, madness and folly; I learned that this too is a pursuit of the wind. For with much wisdom is much sorrow; as knowledge increases, grief increases. Prov. 18:2 “A [closed-minded] fool does not delight in understanding, But only in revealing his personal opinions [unwittingly displaying his self-indulgence and his stupidity]” Some don’t think and favor to eat, drink and be merry. Solomon did not have the promise of the Holy spirit and grace that we do. John 3:19-20 “This, then, is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil. For everyone who practices wicked things hates the light and avoids it, so that his deeds may not be exposed.” This was true of the pharisees and Judas,( he thought he had a better way) p. 78-81. The great astrophysicists say nothing created everything! Many atheists agree with this. He says God put ‘Crazy’ difficult to believe stories in the bible to hinder the “wise and proud” as in 1 Cor. 1:19 “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the experts.” He also says the sinful temptations of the world are like land mines we are to avoid. Eccl. 12:14 “For God will bring every act to judgment, including every hidden thing, whether good or evil.” Chap. 7 When God Doesn’t Answer. Trusting in Jesus doesn’t mean a smooth flight, but it does man a safe landing. Believers may go through some tribulation as in Acts 14:22. He gave a story of how he had a kidney stone that caused much pain., and the Drs. gave him pain meds; but through prayer and help of relatives and friend he finally got to surgery and had it removed. Nothing can separate us form the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. Rom 8:38-9. 1 Peter 5:7 “Cast all your cares on Him for he cares for you.” Chap. 8 The Fight for Faith. Heb.11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” God’s thoughts are higher than ours. Isa. 55:8-9 The Red sea appeared impassible and the Egyptians were pursuing, but Moses said- stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, Exo. 13:14 Nothing can separate us from the Love of the Lord in Jesus, Rom. 8: 39. John 20: 28-29 Thomas responded to Him, “My Lord and my God!”Jesus said, “Because you have seen Me, you have believed. Those who believe without seeing are blessed.” Mary and Martha were crushed by the loss of their brother Lazarus, but kept their eye on Jesus when he came. Phil. 4:6-7 “Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” Chap. 9 Do not Marvel. Thes. 4:13-18 tells of the 2nd coming. John 11:38-44 tells of Lazarus resurrection. He is type of our resurrection, who were dead in trespasses and sins, as in Eph. 2:1-7. 1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Chap 10 Fear, Doubt and Sin These are all tactics of the devil. James 1:4 ”But each person is tempted when he is drawn away and enticed by his own evil desires.” Rom. 7:7 I “wouldn’t have become aware of sin if it had not been for the Law. I wouldn’t have known what it means to covet if the Law had not said, “You must not covet.” The battle is between the renewed mind and the old sinful flesh. King David is and example. He says some fear of the Lord is good. Rom. 2:16 “on that day when God, through Jesus the Messiah, will judge people’s secrets according to my gospel.” Matt. 10:28 ”Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; rather, fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” For lust use the acronym NOPE: Not One Peak even. On can also fall into sin by anger, or bitterness. Confess it to get help. Prov. 28:13 “The one who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy.” 2 Peter 1:3-4 “His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by[b] His own glory and goodness. By these He has given us very great and precious promises, so that through them you may share in the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world because of evil desires.” James 5:16 ”Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The urgent request of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect.” Chap 11 A Lighthouse Faith is like a lighthouse and Heb 11 gives examples of faith. Chap. 12 The power of conflict. The theme of conflict is a big draw for movies and novels. We may face some conflict also in sharing the gospel. As Jesus did in Luke 4:16-30 and John 11:45-54. Chap. 13 Evolution of Jerks. Many are inpatient in road traffic, and new technology of cell phones has aided this. Jesus counted this, by giving believers the Holy spirit and the spirit of love is patient and kind. We need to share the gospel and overcome any fear of rejection. Deut. 31:6 ”Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. “Scripture tells us, through “the fear of the Lord men depart from evil” (Prov. 16:6, KJV). As long as people don’t fear God, they will not depart from evil. And that’s why we have so many false converts within the Church – those that name the name of Christ and never depart from iniquity. In fact, if you read Spurgeon, Wesley, Whitefield and others who were used down through history by God, you’ll see they taught: “If you don’t use the moral law to proceed grace, you’ll fill the Church with false converts.” “I began to study and I saw that Jesus did the same thing with the rich young ruler. When he asked Jesus how to inherit eternal life, Jesus didn’t say: “God loves you. There’s a God-shaped vacuum in your heart.” Jesus said: “You know the commandments.” Why did he do that? Well, Paul tells us, the law is a “schoolmaster” to bring us to Christ (Galatians 3:24, KJV)” My note: this works better for proud intellectuals and atheists, and those not familiar with the bible and it’s teachings. See Paul in Athens: Acts 17:22-34. For those wanting to walk in the spirit, the spirit will guide and convict them of their sins and draw them to a higher calling. However, if a believer walks in repeated sin. his heart may become hardened. People can also be won by doing a miracle or healing for them by prayer.
